Many mainstream news headlines proudly declare that “Knitting is the New Yoga!”, perhaps without understanding much about either practice. This class provides a clear and actionable way for knitters to learn and practice traditional mindfulness techniques through their knitting hobby, providing access to mindfulness and breathwork from the comfort of your crafting space. In this class, students will learn to use knitting as their vehicle to practice Mala meditation, gratitude practice, and focused breathwork. They will learn to align their bodies as they knit through meditative posture, and to utilize their knitting to help them access yoga/mindfulness techniques. By infusing traditional mindfulness meditation practices into knitting, students are able to easily adopt meditation as a daily ritual, and to gain all of the wonderful health benefits of meditation while participating in the hobby of knitting.
