Learn how to get control of the thickness of yarn that you spin. This hands-on class will teach you how to adjust your spinning wheel and your drafting techniques to produce yarns of all thicknesses. Never again will you “just spin the thickness that the fibre wanted to be”. Suitable for all spinners using either spinning wheels, or e-spinners, who can produce a continuous length of yarn.
Class is Friday, July 23, 2021 at 8:00AM EST
- A spinning wheel or e-spinner,
- 200g of easy to spin, well prepared fibre. Something of a medium staple like Corriedale, BFL or Shetland is ideal. This fibre needs to be open and easy to draft, do not use a mystery lump of wool that has been in your stash for the past 10 years. Home prepared fibre will also work, but it needs to be smooth, easy to draft and free from nepps.
You need to be able to spin a continuous length of yarn, if you are still struggling with consistency, that’s ok, but this isn’t a class for a beginner.
